It offers sophisticated hosting solutions. It exchange is a mechanism in which a local cloud provider (Cloud Storage Provider) can act as a gateway between a local (on premise) storage device (Solid State Drive or Desktop Hard Drive), and the Public Cloud. This model allows the cloud provider to provide data storage and an interface for accessing data in the Public Cloud without any downtime or access issues. A Cloud Exchange Provider provides native storage support, remote access to those storage devices, replication, and remote access. In addition, a Cloud Exchange Provider will typically provide a set of tools for creating profiles, which allow different users to access data in the Cloud Storage Provider and in the Public Cloud in much the same way they access data in the on-premise datacenter. The Cloud Exchange Provider maintains the relationship between the local (on premise) storage devices, and the Public Cloud or Private Cloud. This allows the provider to maintain data integrity and compatibility with the Public Cloud. The Cloud Exchange Provider can provide tools to allow for the delivery and hosting of services to clients using the Public Cloud. The Public Cloud provider is typically responsible for building and operating the Public Cloud infrastructure. The Cloud Exchange Provider and the Public Cloud provider can then interact seamlessly. Another way to implement a Cloud Exchange is by connecting the cloud storage exchange with an exchange provider who is physically located on the Public Cloud. This enables client applications to access data in the cloud and gain access to it on the Public Cloud. Clients will connect to the public cloud with a Web Services Gateway and then access data in the cloud via a Web Services Application. Cloud Exchange providers offer solutions for sharing data between public cloud providers, private clouds and enterprises, through means such as the Public Cloud, Private Cloud or Cloud Exchange Provider. By connecting private clouds with the public cloud, the cloud provider can protect data and functionality and provide clients with a hybrid cloud environment. The provider will allow private clouds to access the public cloud by providing a Private Cloud Exchange Provider. The Private Cloud Exchange Provider acts as a gateway to public cloud services in the public cloud. The public cloud provider does not need to manage any private clouds. Cloud Exchange Providers allow for the delivery of additional services and functions to enterprises who want to offer more sophisticated hosting solutions, such as cloud trading, remote cloud access, server load balancing, load management, data replication, and trading applications. Companies can integrate applications and functionality on and off the public cloud by using an Exchange Provider. This enables businesses to have a hybrid cloud environment in which their applications are hosted both on and off the public cloud. Cloud Exchange providers typically offer a variety of hosting solutions, depending on the amount of storage space and connectivity provided by the provider, and the company’s needs. This allows cloud providers to provide more storage space and functionality than a public cloud provider. The benefit of using a Cloud Exchange Provider is that private cloud users are not responsible for creating their own connections to the public cloud. Cloud Exchange Providers typically offer one of two types of solutions. Some Cloud Exchange Providers support applications that allow cloud users to connect their private cloud to a public cloud by means of a Public Cloud Exchange Provider. While the private cloud provider is providing storage and networking services to the cloud users, the public cloud provider is allowing clients to connect to the private cloud with a Public Cloud Exchange Provider. Cloud Exchange Providers that support this model have the ability to take over the management of these connections. This allows the private cloud provider to focus on how the private cloud operates and is connected to the public cloud. Cloud Exchange Providers that offer this type of solution charge a fee for the Public Cloud Exchange Provider service. The type of service that is provided can depend on the level of security and the amount of access to private cloud users that the client allows. Some Cloud Exchange Providers that offer this solution charge a flat fee for users to access the private cloud and require all private cloud users to grant the cloud provider access to their private cloud storage. Private cloud users will grant the cloud provider access to their private cloud storage space using their account information, but the cloud provider can only access this information to provide security to the private cloud. In contrast, Cloud Exchange Providers that support a dynamic model will charge a flat fee for users to access the private cloud and require users to accept access from the cloud provider and provide specific data. A cloud provider that supports this model can access private cloud storage space to perform security functions. All private cloud users who allow this model will have the ability to grant the cloud provider access to their private cloud storage space through their private cloud account. All data stored in the private cloud will be stored and managed in this manner, although the private cloud users will also need to grant cloud users access to their private cloud storage space. This dynamic model offers benefits for private cloud users, who do not have to give their private cloud access to the public cloud. Some private cloud users may even want to provide private cloud access to cloud providers by giving their private cloud storage space to a private cloud exchange provider, but charge the public cloud a fee for this privilege. Cloud Exchange Providers allow private cloud users to choose to use an exchange or an exchange only model. An exchange only model provides private cloud
